More Than Conquerors

The path of life is littered with corpses of slain dragons.

Some of them are small, and some rival the tallest mountains. Some will wound you, some will exhaust you, some will scare you so badly, you will spend many years of your life cowering in hiding, sword quivering uselessly at your side. Some will follow you, nipping at your heals, ignoring that fact that you have already defeated them time and time again.

Yet, you soldier on. Slaying one after another, it what seems to be an endless stream of monsters. For that is the thing about dragons…..There is always another…and another….and another.

Sometimes you think….. “if I can just make it past this one dragon, then all of the pain, all of the striving, all of the suffering will be over.” 

But then the next dragon appears, and you are once again dragged into the fight.

Let me tell you one thing, one thing to all of you whose sword arm is quivering, whose will is breaking, whose heart is failing….

To all of you who think about giving up. To all who want to abandon the fight…

Every day that you wake up. Every day that you get out of bed. Every day that you choose to face the dragon that is your life……you are a hero. You became a hero every time you picked up your sword and entered the fight, every dragon that you conquered both large and small.

Because even though all of your hope was lost, and you had no more breath left within you…..

Still, you fought on.

You are a hero because you endured. You got up, you picked up your sword, and you STARED down your dragon. Even as your legs quaked and your heart failed…you stood. No matter how many times this dragon beat you down, terrified you, and wounded you until you could no longer lift yourself up off the floor….You stood.

You are a hero because you ENDURED.

But you do not have to endure alone.

As Paul writes in Romans 8:37-39,

“No, in all these things we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither DEATH nor LIFE, neither ANGELS nor DEMONS, neither the PRESENT nor the FUTURE, nor any POWERS, neither HEIGHT nor DEPTH, nor ANYTHING ELSE IN ALL OF CREATION, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

You never have to fight alone… and not just that…. nothing can or ever will ever separate you from the love of God.

God created you to be a hero.

He created you to be:

STRONG

UNIQUE

CREATIVE

POWERFUL

CONQUEROR

But He also created you to be LOVED.

So keep picking up your sword. Keep fighting on. And always remember…you were MADE to be a HERO.
